Harrah’s Tunica Closing Frequently Asked Questions

Harrah’s Tunica will be closing on June 2, 2014. While we are working through the details of this news and how it affects our operations we know our customers may have some questions. Below is a list of questions and answers for your reference. We will update these when new questions arise or new answers become available.

Harrah’s Tunica will continue to operate as usual through June 1, 2014.

Question: Why is Harrah’s Tunica closing?

Answer:   We reached the decision to close after exploring every other viable alternative. Business levels in Tunica have declined persistently over the last few years and there have been significant increases in competition, particularly in West Memphis. The closure of Harrah’s Tunica is a very painful step, but it is crucial to the lasting health and viability of our remaining operations in the area. While difficult, we believe that appropriately scaling and focusing our presence in the region will preserve jobs over the long-term.

Question: I have a hotel room booked at Harrah’s Tunica; can I still plan on staying overnight?

Answer:  Any reservations before June 1 will be honored and you should absolutely plan on staying with us and experiencing the same great hospitality we always provide.  Harrah’s Tunica Hotels (Terrace, Veranda, and Casino Tower) will be closed after May 31. If you have a reservation after May 31 unfortunately, we will not be able to honor it. We would invite you to stay at one of our other Total Rewards properties, Horseshoe Tunica or Tunica Roadhouse. You may view their rates and availability online at HorseshoeTunica.com or Tunica-Roadhouse.com or by calling 1-800-223-7277 (1-800-CAESARS).

Question: I am a Harrah’s Total Rewards® customer. What will happen to my Tier Score® and Rewards Credits®?

Answer: You will keep your Tier Status and Reward Credit balances within the Total Rewards network. Your points will not expire during the transition and can still be used at any of our Total Rewards casinos and resorts nationwide before, during and after the closure, including Horseshoe Tunica and Tunica Roadhouse.  You will experience the same level of service and benefits at Horseshoe Tunica and at the Tunica Roadhouse.

Question: How much longer can I earn Reward Credits toward my Total Rewards membership at Harrah’s Tunica?

Answer: You will continue to earn Tier Credits and Reward Credits until the final closure of the property.

Question: How long can I redeem my comps at Harrah’s?

Answer: You can continue to redeem your Reward Credits for comps at Harrah’s Tunica or any other Total Rewards property up to the final transition. You can also redeem your comps at any Total Rewards property including Horseshoe Tunica and Tunica Roadhouse for a period of no fewer than six months following the closure.

To extend the validity of your Reward Credits for Total Rewards, simply earn one Reward Credit at any Caesars Entertainment property every six months or online at the Total Rewards Marketplace. Reward Credits will expire, however, when it has been more than six months since you have earned a Reward Credit.

Question: Do I need to cash out my Reward Credits now or before the closure of the property?

Answer:  Absolutely not! Caesars Entertainment will continue to recognize your Tier and Reward Credit balances at Total Rewards properties nationwide including Horseshoe Tunica and the Tunica Roadhouse.

Question: When will the Harrah’s Tunica property close?

Answer: We are anticipating a closure on June 1, 2014.

Question: What will happen to the restaurants at Harrah’s?

Answer:  Similar to the casino, the restaurants, hotels, Links at Cottonwoods Golf Course, Willows Sporting Clays and Hunting Center, and Bellissimo Spa will all be closing June 2.

Question: Will I continue to have a Harrah’s host?

Answer: Your host relationship at Harrah’s Tunica will not change through the transition. Between now and June 1, 2014 you will continue to see and work with the same employees you have known during your years of loyalty to the Harrah’s Tunica property.   After June 1, 2014 the relationship with your current Harrah’s host will continue at Horseshoe Tunica or the Tunica Roadhouse.

Question: Where are other Caesars Entertainment properties located?

Answer: Caesars Entertainment owns and operates casinos nationwide, including Horseshoe Tunica and Tunica Roadhouse properties, in addition to multiple casinos in Las Vegas including Caesars Palace. For more information on the locations visit www.totalrewards.com

Question: Can I earn and redeem Reward Credits and comps at other Caesars Entertainment locations?

Answer:  Yes, Caesars Entertainment’s Total Rewards program is linked across the nation.

Question: How can I book hotel rooms for Horseshoe Tunica or Tunica Roadhouse?

Answer:  You can visit www.horseshoetunica.com, www.tunica-roadhouse.com or call 1-800-223-7277 (1-800-CAESARS).

Question:  What if I have a sales event booked at Harrah’s?

Answer:  We are currently analyzing and will be contacting all convention and group contracted business. Please call Traci Franzone with questions at 662-357-6112.

Question:  What if I am booked on a plane trip to Harrah’s Tunica?

Answer:  To confirm details of your trip please contact us at 1-800-946-4946 ext. 36006 or Jodi Lee by email at JLee4@caesars.com.

Question:  What if I have booked a tee time after June 1?

Answer: All booked tee times before June 1 will be honored. Unfortunately, if you have booked a tee time after June 1 we will not be able to honor it. Please contact the Links at Cottonwoods at 1-800-946-4946 extension 6079 with any questions regarding tee times before June 1, 2014

Cordova, TN Resident Wins $74,932 at Harrah’s Tunica WSOP Circuit Event 3

Robert Richardson from Cordova, Tenn. wins $74,932 in WSOPC Tunica Event #3

Robert Richardson Bests 1,448-Entry Field

Self-proclaimed dream seller gets a wish of his own, outlasts Harrah’s Tunica’s largest Circuit field ever to earn gold and $74,932.

From a starting field of 1,448-entries, Event 3, a $365 re-entry tournament, is down to just one following almost 40 hours of play. Robert Richardson of Cordova, TN outlasted the super-sized event to earn a Circuit gold ring and 50 points toward the Casino Championship. Additionally, his $365 investment yielded a $74,932 first prize.

“I thank God,” Richardson said. “Anytime anybody asks me about this, I don’t want to make it seem like I did this or I did that. Anything that you can do and accomplish, you should always give God honor and glory for it.”

Richardson’s faith helped keep him focused during what was a grueling few days. The 1,448-entry field – which marked a 14 percent attendance increase over last year’s tournament and the largest field in the property’s Circuit history – was made up of two Day 1s. Each starting flight permitted unlimited re-entries and the latter played well into the early morning hours.

The field drew the likes of 2003 Main Event winner Chris Moneymaker and 2013 bracelet winner Dana Castaneda, both of whom made a run deep into the money. Castaneda started Day 2 with a top-30 stack while Moneymaker had his work cut out for him beginning 158th of 177 returning.

According to onlookers, Moneymaker caught a heater amassing almost 400,000 chips with the help of a little aggression and some fortunate flops. His stack kept growing and people kept busting, but, as so many before him, he succumbed to the field, exiting 47th. He was preceded on the rail by Castaneda who busted two spots prior in 49th.

Richardson’s masterful performance stole the headline from the aforementioned headliners. By his own account, he picked off a bluff holding pocket threes in a four-bet pot with 12 players remaining. In addition to a healthy stack, the pot gave him the confidence he needed if he was to best the talented final table and make his way through the likes of Ryan Stevenson.

Stevenson, the defending Harrah’s Tunica Main Event champion and one of the most experienced players at the table, came to the 10-handed finale short stacked but not about to go anywhere. He clung to life, grinding his stack to a higher and higher finish. His demise came only when he ran top pair ran into the set of Robert Gray and Stevenson exited sixth.

With yet another headliner gone, the spotlight was Richardson’s for the taking. A 35-year-old self-proclaimed dream seller, the cash was the first of Richardson’s WSOP career. While the $74,932 first prize is undoubtedly a nice addition to his poker bankroll, he admitted a portion will go toward his wife’s shopping bankroll.

Event 3 was the third of 12 gold ring events on the WSOP Circuit schedule at Harrah’s Tunica. The $365 No-Limit Hold’em Re-Entry tournament attracted 1,448 entries generating a $434,400 prize pool. The top 153 players were paid.

The tournament featured two starting flights beginning Saturday at 12 p.m. and 5 p.m. The first flight drew 883 entries and advanced 108 while the second flight drew 565 and advanced 69.

Day 2 began Sunday at 12 p.m. with 177 players remaining and just 153 spots finishing in the money. The bubble burst during the first level of play. From there, the nine-handed final table began at 12:30 a.m. and Day 2 wrapped shortly after 1:30 a.m.

Play on Day 3 began Monday at 2 p.m. with six players remaining. The event concluded at roughly 6:45 p.m.

Notes on the Event

  • The 1,448-entry field marks the largest Circuit event ever held at Harrah’s Tunica.
  • 2003 WSOP Main Event winner Chris Moneymaker advanced from the opening flight holding just 31,500 chips. He began Day 2 in 158th of the 177 remaining players, but went on to finish 47th.

The player who accumulates the most overall points during Harrah’s Tunica’s twelve combined gold ring tournaments earns the title Casino Champion and receives automatic entry into the WSOP National Championship to take place at Caesars Atlantic City this spring.

All players who cash in ring events receive points that apply toward the Casino Champion’s race and the season-long race to claim one of 50 at-large National Championship bids awarded to the top point earners throughout the season. More information on the points system is available on WSOP.com.

Here is the list of gold ring winners from Harrah’s Tunica:

EVENT #1: Mitch Franks defeated 384 players ($365 NLH) for $25,341

EVENT #2: Nick Burris defeated 560 players ($365 NLH) for $35,290

EVENT #3: Robert Richardson defeated 1,448 entries ($365 NLH Re-Entry) for $74,932

With the third tournament wrapped, nine more ring events remain at Harrah’s Tunica.

Caesars Entertainment Hosts 2nd Annual Battle of the Bras to Benefit American Cancer Society

Vote for your favorite Bra and raise money for the American Cancer Society October 24!

Fashion Show and Final Voting for Best Bra at Harrah’s Tunica October 24

Caesars Entertainment Mid-South male executives and local male celebrity models will strut their stuff in bras decorated by Caesars Mid-South employees on Thursday, October 24 at the Harrah’s Tunica Event Center to raise money for the American Cancer Society in observance of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Tickets to the Battle of the Bras event are available for a $10 donation to the American Cancer Society the night of the event at the Harrah’s Event Center. All money raised will benefit the American Cancer Society with the Caesars Foundation matching up to $25,000. The event starts at 7:30 p.m. and will consist of a cash bar and heavy hors d’ oeuvres sponsored by Harrah’s, a parade of Caesars employees that are breast cancer survivors, a live auction, and finally the bra modeling and voting for the main event.

“Everyone really enjoyed the Battle of the Bras last year and we raised and donated over $30,000 to the American Cancer Society,” said R. Scott Barber, Regional President, Caesars Mid-South. “Caesars is a local and national sponsor of the American Cancer Society so the Battle and the Bras is a great new fundraising event to add to the many other volunteer and fundraising events we participate in locally.”

Teams of five or more Caesars Mid-South employees will decorate the bras to tell a story that links to breast cancer. Employees and the general public will then vote on the bras for cash donations. The 15 bras that receive the most cash donations will be modeled by male casino executives and local celebrities at the Battle of the Bras event. Celebrity judges will make the final decision as to the top three bra designs.

“Caesars and their employee volunteer HEROs have been a tremendous resource for the American Cancer Society and we are very excited that the Battle of the Bras event is returning this year,” said Clint Cummins, Senior Director Partner Relationships, American Cancer Society.

Caesars Mid-South has embraced National Breast Cancer Awareness Month with the Battle of the Bras event as well as; installing pink table felts on blackjack tables at Harrah’s, Horseshoe, and Tunica Roadhouse; distribution of breast cancer awareness pins to all employees; employees wearing pink on Tuesdays and Fridays in October; collection of money in casino entrance wishing wells for the American Cancer Society, volunteers supporting and participating in the Making Strides walk; employees decorating office doors and work areas in pink remembering victims of cancer and celebrating survivors; and employee, customer, and social media awareness campaigns.
